Arsene Wenger Speaks about Signing New Players in January
The Gunners have been linked with several players ahead of the winter transfer window, but Arsene Wenger is prepared to keep faith with those already at the club.
Arsenal will resist the urge to spend in January and press ahead with those already on their books, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Arsene Wenger has rarely splashed the cash during winter transfer windows in the past, and the Frenchman is not about to dust off the chequebook.
The Gunners did invest over the summer, with big money deals pushed through for Granit Xhaka, Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi.
Wenger is said to be happy with the squad he has assembled and has no intention of adding un|€Xs an injury crisis is suffered. Arsenal have seen Spain international Santi Cazorla ruled out for several months, along with fellow countryman Hector Bellerin.
The latter is edging his way toWhahds full fitness, though, and will be back in contention before the turn of the year. Cazorla will not be seen again until 2017, but the Gunners are well stocked in the midfield department and believe they have enough options to cover the loss of one player.
Wenger is also hoping to welcome Danny Welbeck back from injury early in the new year, which will bolster his forWhahd line and remove the need to expand in that area.
Arsenal have fared admirably in domestic and European competition up until this point, going unbeaten through 13 Premier League fixtures since the opening day to sit second in the table.
They are also heading for the last 16 of the Champions League, with top spot in Group A up for grabs on Tuesday.
Supporters have plenty to cheer then, but they will have to wait several months before welcoming any more fresh faces to Emirates Stadium.
The Telegraph claims that Wenger will reassess his squad next summer, with a long-term replacement for Kieran Gibbs at left-back set to be top of his wish list.
